We research company filings and transcripts for information.
  • Searching for the same word or theme through multiple documents.
  • There's a lot going on visually. A more simplistic interface might help new users.
Research analysts can use it for fundamental research and trends across companies.

AlphaSense is well integrated into our investment research workflow. AlphaSense is quite close to being a one-stop-shop for us to search for materials such as regulatory documents, conference transcripts, press releases and business news to support investment decisions. Table extraction from 10-K/Q documents is also made easier with the platform. We also rely on AlphaSense to monitor real time news flow for any specific topic or company.
  • Natural language search. It recognizes the synonym of the words, and the accuracy of the search result is unrivalled out there.
  • One-stop-shop for the business-related contents. If you can name it, AlphaSense most likely would have it. I am also quite appreciative how we can access most sell side research reports on the platform.
  • Table extractions from 10-K/Q. It saves us so much time.
  • The platform could be quite buggy or unstable. Sometime the search could be particularly slow, or the search results were not appearing. Sometime the platform forced logout me, especially after a long browsing session.
  • AlphaSense claimed that it could integrate with our internal research database, but it is difficult to work in real life and the results weren't as good as it could have been.
  • With ChatGPT and LLM, I wish that AlphaSense could integrate them into the search process, making the search results more concise and contextually accurate.
AlphaSense is particularly well suited for business research deep dive, whether in buyside or consulting, of which we have to access multiple sites to obtain reliable business information. AlphaSense works pretty well to search for publicly listed companies in the US, but I cannot say for sure that it can work as well for private companies in the US or foreign listed companies.

AlphaSense is able to synthesize and drastically reduce the amount of information we'd need to filter through to get to the insights we want. We use it as a supplement to our existing databases since most people are still new to the product. However, it addresses different use cases (filtered information) than other providers.
  • pulling research we don't have in our existing databases
  • finding very specific information
  • Points out trends we may not have already thought of
  • The searched results could be a lot and overwhelming
  • some information irrelevant to that searched
  • Perhaps have more group in person training
AlphaSense is great for researching for specific and granular details and/or trends one may need.

AlphaSense is used to access broker research and financial summary data, get insights on various industries quickly, access public information like news, public disclosures, annual reports, and investor presentations, and access public disclosures to authorities, like the FDA Extract data and tables from 10-Ks.
  • Get the right insights quickly
  • Pay only for the pages of research consumed
  • Industry research
  • Search within financial disclosures
  • Cite sources for financial numbers
  • Create Excel API for financial data
  • Provide ability to create comp sets like in CapIQ
Suited for a scenario where you have to search for a particular phrase or metric within public disclosures or within broker research for a particular company or industry or when searching within annual reports or investor materials.

Use it to pull transcripts, 8-Ks, financial reports, investor presentations, etc. for global companies
The platform is much better than competing solutions like BamSEC given that it covers the filings of international companies, can pull transcripts of international companies without any issue as well, offers a sentiment analysis tool that color shades whether the discussion in earnings was positive, captures investor presentations, and a whole bunch of other content in one place
  • Filings for international companies
  • Sentiment analysis for transcripts
  • Combining all news sources to monitor select companies
  • Sorting document types could be more streamline and intuitive. I think BamSEC does a great job of this so if you wanted to find proxy info vs financials it is much easier on other platforms
  • The relevance score is very off, just because something is new doesn't mean it is relevant if it has less keyword hits
Regularly pulling equity research, financials, and monitoring companies

I use it to search news and research for keywords. I also use it to follow research, set alerts for research reports.
  • user interface
  • search
  • stream transcripts
  • broker access
  • notes integration
  • entitlements
  • other sources
  • transparency
If you want to research one particular item across many companies then it's a great option that I highly recommend, their search is easy to use and easy to select what sources you want to include. The product is less appropriate for notes and transcripts of calls outside of research and earnings calls. Only the transcripts and research service is really helpful in my opinion. I believe the news and other data sources add too much noise.

I use it to scour for commentary from analysts for their views on our product and our competitors.
  • Capturing reports from top tier bulge bracket analysts.
  • Filtering of reports to get exactly what i need.
  • Sec filings.
  • Providing full access to all bulge bracket reports.
Great customer service, and a good variety of coverage of reports. You carry more than Refinitiv.

We primarily leverage AlphaSense to review our responses to Medicaid bids as well as our competitors.
  • Easy to use search
  • Easy to use notes for recording insights
  • Generally intuitive platform
When we are doing research on a state or capability I always recommend starting with leveraging AlphaSense to understand our capabilities as well as that of competitors.

We use AlphaSense regularly to conduct company/industry research. I primarily use it to review and analyze transcripts, filings, and broker research. The usability and various features make the product standout from peers. In particular, the smart search feature is excellent, and makes it extremely easy to sort through a large amount of information quickly. I also find the Notes function very useful to gather findings in one centralized place. The AI-based summaries of earnings calls are great when looking to get a quick snapshot for a company's quarterly call.
  • Smart search functionality
  • Great interface with easy ability to navigate between documents/transcripts
  • Access to aggregated broker research
  • It is not very easy to do searches across a specific industry rather than one company (requires use of advanced search functionality)
  • Can be a slow load time for long broker research reports
AlphaSense is excellent for reviewing and analyzing transcripts, filings, and broker research, particularly for understanding how companies are talking about key topics or trends given the smart search functionality. While the advanced search functionality is a bit tricky to use/slightly less intuitive, there are a number of good filters to help find specific examples/instances. I have not used it for news/media coverage so I cannot speak to how robust it would be there compared to other tools.

We use AlphaSense as a tool to aid in our deep research into companies or fields of interest. It is helpful in our financial modeling, deep dives into complex topics, and as a source for transcripts. It is my go-to tool when looking for information on almost any work related query.
  • Historical financial tables
  • Transcripts
  • Web based search prioritization
  • Audio file navigation using available text in transcript
  • Developing larger pool of expert transcripts
I use AlphaSense weekly, if not daily, while at work. It is my go-to source when looking for information on the web. I also use it frequently when analyzing corporate filings, and find it incredibly useful for building out company financial models, as it has very easy navigation tables for both the current and past filings. It is not the best when looking for news articles, so I will often just use Google for that, but it isn't a deal breaker.

1) After a live event, AlphaSense's transcripts are super helpful. They map the dialogue really well and provide tiny backgrounds to each of the speakers. Other platforms don't address this. AlphaSense even has sentiment indicators to make overall general themes for the call a lot easier to assess. 2) Data searching: I recently used AlphaSense to find certain info on guidance, and after only a few clicks I managed to find it immediately. Really helpful!
  • UI/UX is really good
  • Data searching tool is really effective
  • Event transcripts
  • Not a biggie but it does take time to load occasionally
  • I'm not aware of any live transcripts but that is something that I know I'd reliably use
Event transcripts are usually pretty accurate and easy to sift through. The ability to highlight is super useful too. I wouldn't really use AlphaSense's live transcript function since they are not as consistent with other platforms like Aiera. I'd like to see AlphaSense have that function so I can do all my research in one place.

It is extremely useful in trying to find specific information from a sea of documents and disclosures from companies. We can simply type the keywords which we are interested in and they will show all documents for the company with the relevant portions of the disclosure. This helps analysts figure out the topic in a crisp and fast manner.
  • Search NIM for BAC
  • Search Assets for JPM
  • Search Comp Ratio
  • Other platforms like SNP Cap IQ Pro give easier ways to get data pulled to Excel
  • Home page is complicated and UI can be simplified
  • History of similar data should be available more easily
It is extremely useful in trying to find specific information from a sea of documents and disclosures from companies. It is relatively less useful to get data into Excel

AlphaSense is my go to resource as an Investor Relations professional. AlphaSense equips our team with tools and capabilities that we need to research company data such as SEC filings and presentations. The AlphaSense search function is unmatched and allows me to easily study the industry and track our competition.
  • Search function
  • Scoring search results
  • Note taking
  • Access to analyst and news reports
  • Downloading MP3 Files
  • Notifications and alerts when a Earnings Transcript is updated from "Raw" to "Corrected"
AlphaSense is the best resource to use when I need to research years of SEC filings, presentations, analyst reports, and news articles for specific mentions. I can search any word or general topic and the AlphaSense search function is able to find accurate results faster than other platform I have ever used.

We use AlphaSense in lieu of desktop research. We use it to create custom reports on a variety of topics that influence the strategic business decisions of the company. We also use the table explorer feature extensively to pull data from SEC filings.
  • Keyword Search
  • User-friendly Interface
  • Table Explorer
  • Latency, reports take longer to load
  • Errors in Table Explorer
  • More information on private companies
Keyword search function is very powerful and helps to scan quickly through the documents. Private company data is very limited.

We use Alphasense to quickly decipher broker research - the main advantage is not having to download each broker report to analyze the content
  • Strong database of content (company reports, broker reports, etc.)
  • Strong keyword search function
  • Ease of access to quickly flip through data without downloading
  • More broker coverage
  • Excel plug in for industry data
Pros
Alphasense is best suited for looking through broker research / company reports quickly

Cons
The platform is missing some of the brokers, and lacks a full suite of product offerings (plug in, etc.)

I use AlphaSense to stay up to date with the industries I work in, client we work with, and to assist with research using AlphaSense's cutting edge search tools. AlphaSense allows us to search and digest an enormous amount of information in a short period of time, allowing us to better serve our clients.
  • Search engine
  • Data aggregation
  • Identifying relevant information
  • Good user interface but things can always be improved
  • Continue expanding data sources
  • Continue push to integrate AI
AlphaSense is well suited to search and digest enormous amounts of public information and public research and distill down to the relevant points a user is interested in. I primarily use it to quickly find information across company filings, equity research reports, transcripts, etc.
  • language model
  • easily see where in the documents your searched items are
  • well-rounded sources of information
  • when scrolling through the pages of a document, it takes a few seconds of buffering for each page of the document to load
  • useful for targeted searches
  • less useful/differentiated if you just want to read through a document (although the green/red highlighting of positive/negative info is helpful)

Primarily, searching financials and earnings transcripts for key words and sentiment. The most common use is for us to query financial statements to find nuances about how disclosures or language has changed over time, often times we have a need to find those in real-time to answer live questions from clients or colleagues.
  • Semantic searches
  • Aggregation
  • Filtering
  • Timeliness
  • Summarization
  • Call transcription
Searching for references on the fly to answer specific questions from clients or colleagues, particularly where nuance is required (so, searching specific language or disclosures in financial statements becomes very helpful). Meanwhile, I believe that in scenarios where slide decks (company presentations) are required to answer a question, it typically is better for us to directly go to the original source given AlphaSense sometimes has issues finding the keywords in those and/or is too slow to actually load those in real-time.

Primary due diligence with expert transcripts. Research different industries and get expert opinions using AlphaSense pre-recorded database.
  • Recent transcripts
  • Wide coverage
  • Saves time
  • Interviewers could be more informed about the company
  • Better tracking of new content
  • Better integration with acquired companies

As a competitive intelligence analyst, I need to be able to access near real-time data about the activities of competitors, what is happening in the market, and what issues need to be tracked that could potentially impact our market. Alphasense helps me stay on top of key market trends as well as news that mentions competitors. I use Alphasense on a weekly basis due to the quality of information. I also use Alphasense to read analyst reviews and earnings calls. Alphasense highlights sentiment, which makes it much easier to quickly understand a large amount of information and also makes it easier to send to higher-level executives since sentiment is marked up already.
  • Key market trends- I input a topic name and get information related to the topic.
  • Competitor filings- Alphasense is able to get all the regulatory documents quickly.
  • Earnings calls- Alphasense now provides transcripts, which is incredibly helpful when I can't attend the earnings call live.
  • The dashboard changed its layout recently which makes it hard to relearn.
  • There are local websites that repost news articles. Alphasense frequently misses posts about competitor activities when news sites mention a competitor.
  • If there were some sort of effort to track competitor ads (visuals), that would be extremely helpful.
Alphasense is great for tracking subjects revolving around a topic. Also incredibly useful when I have to do a deep dive about a competitor in a field that is adajacent to the one I work in. Analyst reports are fantastic and worth the additional cost. Less helpful when it comes to things like tracking marketing efforts (search and display ads, social media campaigns, direct mail, radio/tv commercials). I have to use alternate sources for that. Also, I utilize linkedin to see public job postings of competitors because that potentially has a lot of useful and public data for understanding my competitors next actions Not appropriate for tracking pricing due to the way pricing is hidden from competitors and price is based on service address

I use AlphaSense to search public companies' documents by keywords. The product enables users to search for the information they need from all of the historical files, which is a huge plus.
  • Use keywords to search historical companies documents.
  • Download charts/table as excel for 10k/10q.
  • I need to download charts/tables as Excel from companies filling other than 10q/10k.
  • Sometimes the portal doesn't show the latest companies filling.
For equity research analysts to search on specific topics is not great for data analysis.

I use AlphaSense primarily for broker research. I also use it to identify key themes, source data for specific queries, earnings summaries and industry news. We also use it to get historical financials of public companies.
  • Search - the keyword search tool is the best I've seen across various databases. Much more useful than Google due to the access to broker research. I use it quite frequently.
  • Downloading research by page / snipped instead of the entire report.
  • Very intuitive user interface. Best I've encountered across various databases.
  • Would love to see the financials & estimates screen with an option to view a more detailed financial picture - like the full income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
  • Would love to see more KPI tracking for companies in addition to financials.
  • Maybe have a legend for earnings call sentiment - it's not always clear how it defines the positive / negative sentiment.
Very suited for targeted financial research on public companies. Not very helpful in terms of idea generation / learning about a new field from scratch. It's very useful when you know the exact scope of your question versus when you want to just explore a topic / idea, at least in my experience.
